I love crab and avocado on my sushi, so I figured why not try to incorporate it into a mash/salad. I scooped it all up with easy, homemade tortilla chips because I didn’t want to tempt myself with eating a whole bag of chips. This can be used as a party dip, or if you are like me, as dinner for one.
For the “mash”:
1/2 cup lump crab meat
A couple of dashes of garlic salt, to taste
For the chips:
1 flour tortilla
Salt/pepper to taste
Cut one flour tortilla into 8 pieces. Place on a coated baking tray and cook for about 6 minutes on 375 degrees. Remove and season with salt/pepper. You can spice it up with paprika or all spice if you are feeling feisty!
While that’s cooking, mash lump crab meat and avocado together. (Click here for how to prepare an avocado). I used two forks and kinda tore between the pieces of crab and avocado similar to cutting butter into dry mix on other recipes if that helps you picture it. I left mine chunky, but you can mash until it gets a smoother consistency to your liking. Squirt a little bit of lemon (or lime) juice into the mash for added flavor.
Serve together and eat it up! This is a pretty healthy dish filled with good fats that come from the avocado. You can make it even better by using a whole wheat tortilla.
