So, here’s the third post in the series about my favorite The Shack quotes (here’s one and two). These are themed around our relationship with God. There’s a lot of these that I flagged while reading, so I’m dividing these into two posts. I’ll say if Jesus was saying it, but if I don’t then assume it’s coming as if from God’s voice.
- All love and relationship is possible for you only because it already exists within me, within God myself. Love is not the limitation; love is the flying. I am love. (pg. 103)
- Jesus, ” I choose to live moment by moment fully human. I am fully God, but I am human to the core. Like I said, it’s Papa’s miracle. It’s what everything is all about. The human, formed out of the physical material of creation, can once more be fully in dwelt by spiritual life, my life. It requires that a very real dynamic and active union exists.” (pg. 115)
- The real flaw in your life is that you don’t think I am good. If you knew I was good and that everything — the means, the ends, and all the processes of individual lives– is all covered by my goodness, then while you might not always understand what I am doing, you would trust me. But you don’t. You cannot produce trust just as you cannot ‘do’ humility. It either is or it isn’t. Trust is the fruit of a relationship in which you know you are loved. Because you do not know that I love you, you cannot trust me. (pg. 129)
One thing I took away from it but couldn’t explain the best way by just copying a quote over here was talking to God/Jesus/Holy Spirit as if they don’t know every moment of your day. Like your friends and family, fill the Holy Trinity into your life by praying to them often, because they LOVE having genuine conversations with us.
