This is the second part in my series of sharing quotes I love from the novel The Shack. (Here’s the first.) These quotes I am posting today are in line with God’s purpose for us. I hope you enjoy and take something away from it like I did.My favorite is the third one– what a great way to think of things! Like the last post, all are as if spoken by God.
- Most birds were created to fly. Being grounded for them is a limitation within their ability to fly, not the other way around. You were created to be loved. So for you to live as if you were unloved in a limitation, not the other way around. Living unloved is like clipping a bird’s wings and removing its ability to fly. Not something I want for you. (pg. 99)
- Humans are defined not by their limitations, but by the intentions I have for them; not by what they seem to be, but by everything it means to be created in my image. (pg. 102)
- I don’t wonder what you will do or what choices you will make. I already know. Let’s say, for example, I am trying to teach you how not to hide inside lies. And let’s say that I know it will take you 47 situations and events before you will hear clearly enough to agree with me and change. So when you don’t hear me the first time, I am not frustrated or disappointed, I’m thrilled. Only 46 more times to go!(pg. 189)
- If anything matters, everything matters. Because YOU are important and everything you do is important. Every time you forgive, the universe changes; every time you reach out and touch a heart or a life, the world changes; with every kindness and service, seen or unseen, my purposes are accomplished and nothing will ever be the same again. (pg. 237)
